Texas Kindergartner Makes Big Baseball Card Discovery

It’s not every day the baseball card universe is turned on its head by a six-year-old Texan, but that’s precisely what unfolded when Champ Stutts from Texas unearthed a remarkable gem. This young enthusiast, with a burgeoning collection of over a thousand cards, recently struck gold with a rare “one of one” Paul Skenes Onyx card—a discovery so extraordinary that seasoned collectors couldn’t help but be envious.

The Exciting Discovery

On an ordinary Monday, Champ ripped open a pack of cards and stumbled upon the ultra-scarce Paul Skenes card. His unfiltered joy, captured on camera by his mother Kristi and shared on their family TikTok account, “Stutts Family Fun,” swiftly went viral.

In a stroke of fate, the video caught the attention of LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, who, coincidentally, is dating Paul Skenes. Livvy not only left a comment on the TikTok post but also shared it with Skenes himself.

In Champ’s own words, “She showed it to Paul Skenes. And Paul Skenes commented. I think he said, ‘You’re coming to one of my baseball games.’”

Adding to the excitement, the Pittsburgh Pirates also jumped on board. They reached out to the Stutts family and pledged to send Champ a Paul Skenes jersey, solidifying this unforgettable moment for the young fan.

A Family Tradition

Champ’s adoration for baseball cards is no fluke—it’s in his genes. His father, who initially embarked on a quest to find a Skenes Topps Chrome rookie patch card last November, passed down his collecting fervor. Now, Champ’s zeal has even begun to rub off on his two-year-old brother, who insists on snuggling with cards every night.

Despite being a doting big brother, Champ knows when to draw the line. “Bro, don’t bend it,” he firmly advises his sibling, ensuring the more valuable cards remain in pristine condition.

With Champ’s infectious passion for baseball cards and his incredible stroke of luck, the Stutts family has garnered unexpected attention from both the baseball world and beyond. The heartwarming tale of a young fan’s big find reminds us all that sometimes, even the smallest hands can hold the most prized treasures.
