SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Showcases Rare Sports Memorabilia

SCP Auctions is gearing up to enthrall collectors with its Spring Premier auction catalog, showcasing a plethora of rare and iconic sports memorabilia. One of the standout pieces featured in this auction is the exclusive George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, signed by the basketball legend himself. This one-of-a-kind ensemble, comprising a jacket and pants autographed by Mikan, holds a stamp of authenticity from Sports Investors Authentication, making it an irresistible item for collectors. Anticipated to command a price tag upwards of $400,000, this piece harkens back to the nascent days of the NBA, where Mikan left an indelible mark.

Renowned for his transformative influence on basketball, Mikan’s memorabilia, particularly his game-worn items, hold a special allure for collectors. The auction also boasts a treasure trove of prime vintage baseball cards, with highlights including a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, two 1952 Topps Mantle cards, a 1963 Topps Mantle in SGC 9 condition, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig card graded SGC 9, among others. The Gehrig card is projected to surpass the $150,000 mark, adding to the excitement of the bidding frenzy.

Fans of Pete Rose memorabilia will be thrilled to discover the second-ranked master set of his cards, following SCP’s previous sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. The auction also showcases a diverse array of significant Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, including the jersey worn by Ohtani on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, which is expected to attract bids in the six-figure range, along with Ohtani’s milestone 200th career home run ball.

Adding to the allure are two pairs of game-worn shoes from the legendary Michael Jordan, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. jersey photo-matched to specific games, and a signed jersey from Tua Tagovailoa’s 2023 season. The auction further dazzles with high-end jewelry pieces such as a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals belonging to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Noteworthy lots also include game-worn and signed shoes from Kobe Bryant, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a game-used bat wielded by Ted Williams, a rare 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autographed card, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a baseball signed by early Hall of Fame inductees and Yankee legends, and a selection of historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With a lineup of over 400 lots, the auction opens on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, April 13, offering participants the chance to bid on these coveted sports treasures at SCPAuctions.com. Get ready to dive into a world of sporting history and legacy with SCP’s Spring Premier auction.
