Legendary Baseball Cards Auction Event

This spring, baseball enthusiasts and collectors are in for a treat as Huggins & Scott presents a remarkable auction filled with legendary baseball cards and memorabilia. The star of the show is the coveted T206 Sherry “Magie” error card, an illustrious piece among the ‘Big Four’ of the T206 series. This particular card holds a special place in the hearts of collectors due to a printing error that immortalized outfielder Sherry Magee’s name as “Magie,” making it a rare and sought-after gem in the world of baseball card collecting.

Accompanying the T206 Sherry “Magie” card are three newly discovered 1910 Baltimore News Orioles cards, adding an element of excitement to the auction. These cards are part of a scarce schedule-card set that precedes the well-known 1914 BN set featuring Babe Ruth’s rookie card, making them a significant find for passionate collectors looking to expand their collection with unique pieces of baseball history.

The auction boasts an impressive selection of pre-war baseball card highlights, including sought-after cards like a 1934 World Wide Gum Babe Ruth (PSA 3) and Lou Gehrig (SGC 3), an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Mike “King” Kelly (SGC 6), an 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward (PSA 6), and a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Honus Wagner (PSA 4). These cards carry a rich history and offer collectors a chance to own pieces of baseball’s past.

In addition to pre-war gems, the auction features a diverse range of post-war baseball cards sure to catch the eye of collectors. Highlights include a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (PSA 3), a 1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie (PSA 2), Hank Aaron’s 1954 Topps rookie (PSA 6) and 1955 Topps (PSA 8), a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax (PSA 7), and a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie high number (PSA 4). Furthermore, a 1961 Topps set with 524 of the 572 cards autographed will be available for those looking to expand their collection with a complete set.

One of the most exciting aspects of the auction is the array of signed memorabilia from baseball legends such as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente. These autographed pieces offer fans a chance to own a tangible connection to some of the game’s greatest players, adding a personal touch to any collection.

Bidding is already underway for this extraordinary collection of baseball history and will continue until Thursday, April 4, with initial bids closing at 9 PM ET. This auction provides a unique opportunity for collectors to own a piece of baseball history, with rarities and memorabilia that cater to the most discerning enthusiasts looking to enrich their collection with iconic pieces of the sport’s past.
